Narragansett Pier is so named because in the late 1800’s Narragansett RI was home to the Narragansett Casino where the wealthy frolicked from Newport way. The pier was the docking point for the yachts that came to the casino. Sadly in the 1880’s the Narragansett Pier had a huge fire that destroyed this casino. The only remains of the casino are the two towering towers that stand over Ocean Road now.
