Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer | Oh How It Glows!
We all know that Rudolph is the head honcho reindeer for Mr. Santa Claus every December 24th. Well my boys, when they
were little, would ask about how Rudolph the red nose reindeer got his glowing red nose.. I would answer them with silly comments of it being:
painted red, it was a battery operated red light bulb, Mrs. Claus was having fun with lipstick and Rudolph was the tester or Rudolph just had high blood pressure for this Red Nose Reindeer. But I knew I needed to find a better answer for the kids. It may not impact my RI real estate world but it does make a difference to this Christmas holiday!
Are we not shameful as parents to make up wild stories about that glowing red nose and none of it is near to the truth! I thought I might share some of the real truth about Rudolph’s red nose and it all has to do with the ‘Physics of Christmas‘…it’s a little book I bought for my son when he was in college (by that time way beyond wondering about the red nose) and it clears up the untruths about Rudolph’s red nose.

Unfortunately for reindeer, their noses provide a healthy environment for bugs. So the much celebrated coloration of Rudolph’s nose is due to a parasitic (ick, ick!) infection in his respiratory system and it lodges externally in his poor nose.
Dear Rudolph is like a runway model, he has the right bone structure but Santa Claus just did not know about the advantages of cosmetic surgery to help out his lead reindeer with his nose problem. What a difference it would make but then how would Santa have that magic beacon up front to guide him on Christmas Eve?
So poor Rudolph is burdened by these parasites infecting his nose, especially on Christmas Eve, and when forced to pull Santa’s heavy sleigh – it gives him that red glowing nose!
No, Rudolph the red nose reindeer is not hitting the eggnog and leaving Santa the cookies and milk as the rumor goes…. I know some of you are thinking that you like the light bulb nose story at this point when explaining it to the kids.
Alright I know most people do not like the truth on this one but it is sourced on some fact …so thank you to Professor Halvorsen. Merry, Merry Christmas to All…but it still means you need to be good little boys and girls for Santa to stop by your house…. Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer | Oh How It Glows!
